If you live a significant distance from Hunter Hand Surgery, a telehealth appointment can be organised. This must be requested by your GP and is usually conducted between your GP, with you present, and the specialist. These appointments can take a long time to organise as they require co-ordination between you, your GP and the surgeon.
Telehealth appointments require the GP to examine you while the surgeon looks on. In most cases a diagnosis and management plan can be made during this appointment. In some cases, the surgeon may request that you still attend an appointment in person if they believe it is necessary for accurate diagnosis or to discuss complex treatment options.
If the surgeon believes that surgery is the best option for you, our staff will go through the cost of the procedure with you to obtain financial consent prior to your surgery. It is not possible to give an estimate of the costs of any possible surgery prior to your appointment with the surgeon. The final out of pocket expense to you will depend on your insurance cover.
